While my son Zakk served as a Page for Rep Blackwell and for Senator Daniel, I spent those two weeks in the halls of the Legislative Building and Legislative Office Building.
As a founding member of the Great Trails State Coalition, I followed up on our successful efforts in having legislation passed to designate 2023 as Year of the Trail in NC and create the Complete the Trails Fund for $29.5M in state funding for state trails. (There are 4 state trails in Burke County – so helping the state helps Burke County)
I also spoke with Speaker Tim Moore, and legislative liaisons with NCWRC and the Dept of Natural and Cultural Resources about needs in Burke County and solutions.
